Lean Enteprise School of Mechanical Engineering
Introduction
The program is conducted as EPE432: Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing and Management course that has been designed based on Bose Lean Enterprise Yellow Belt Certification program as in MoA between USM and Flex LTD (Flex Systems Penang) (formerly Bose Systems Malaysia) since 2013.
In this training they will learn about:
- Lean Enterprise Overview
- Aligning the Organization
- Lean and Problem Solving Fundamentals
- Analysis Tools and Standards
- Basic Statistics and Lean Management Systems
The program will be implemented in interactive ways with various group discussions and games to ensure effective experiential learning. Assessments for this program include book summary, in-class exercises, blog writing, leadership, and participation in outdoor activities. Students will also be evaluated based on Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) report and presentation. Each student is required to conduct a 10-week PDCA project in a company under the supervision of a field supervisor and a mentor. This allows students to directly apply all their knowledge to solve problems in the real industry. Also, various outdoor activities will be planned and implemented by the students throughout this program.
The graduates from the Yellow Belt and Advance Lean Practitioner program are highly sought by employers out there based on our graduates’ employability records.
